Centre for Healthworks, Development and Research Initiative
The Centre for Healthworks, Development and Research Initiative, CHEDRES, is the corporate successor to Child Birth Defects Research Centre, CHIBDREC. The organization is registered with the Federal Republic of Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission with Registration Number CAC/IT/No. 73424 of 11th November, 2014 and the Cross River State Ministry of Youths and Sports and Ministry of Women Affairs, as a not–for-profit, non–partisan and Voluntary Service Organization, on November 7, 2002 with No VS0/000/1225 and 465 respectively.
The institution focus of CHEDRES is to improve health outcomes of the poor, and especially, the disadvantaged coastal communities of Cross River State, where it delivers critical socio-economic empowerment service to the most vulnerable. But by its general work scope, CHEDRES is programmed to also cover similar communities in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Ebonyi and Rivers States. It currently works in, Akamkpa, Biase, Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, and Odukpani Council Areas in Cross River State of Nigeria.
